Food for thought on the active learning

  •       How important is it for students to create digital content? Nowadays, we've come to terms with the fact that students learn better - and that's the main reason - when producing the content themselves. Especially when using digital tools such as iPads, their phones and laptops. Teachers' role has been presented for guidance.
  •       What are some of the benefits of having students create digital content? The benefits involve them building their own knowledge and having us teachers participate with them and not only left as observers. We build together and have the chance to share and exchange ideas, possibilities as well.
  •       What are some of the drawbacks on having students as content creators? They can sometimes provide content that's not appropriate or has not to do with the class purpose. That's why teachers' role is important in terms of guidance and reflection.
  •       How feasible is it to integrate content creation into your classroom? Students don't hesitate, nor struggle with the usage of digital tools. They also got how much fun it is to play with them and how interesting the task is when it's collaborative. I don't think the groups would have trouble engaging especially because they're so familiarized with digital tools, nowadays.

How do we turn our 21st classrooms into learning engines?

Through sharing (among us teachers and among our students) like it's been suggested and it's been the main goal of Digital Skills and Tools for Educators course.
LĂlian Marchesoni, in one of her comments to my first post said that PNL is key to finding the right resources and through them, facilitating also the variety of teaching processes. PNL made me connect the idea with positive/grownth mindset, which I think is sort of a consequence from the first mentioned, or they're somewhat connected.

How do we teach Generation Z?

This is quite and interesting question? I`m talking about generation z/millenials, but also referring to other generations such as x and y! The majority is more into Ed Tech than the old school material and traditional teaching, even with their valuable contribution and we all use them up to today as well.

The video raises an important question to be reflected upon after a series of important info. I`d like to hear what you think!

Learning process on the 21st century

Learning is much more interactive nowadays. And it has to be. Actually, it has always been one of the most effective learning process that's ever existed. Studies and students have raised awareness upon technology as one of the most effective tools to learn in today's world. When they feel like they’ve produced something out of the content shared and learned, every now and then, it’s as if they have something extra to add up to the discussion and indeed they have. Learning goes on during the process (either much or little) but still, it is more felt than it ever was. I have a feeling and I'm sure many might agree with me, that being able to attend class in person, will never get fully old. Even though there is also interaction on the online world, face-to-face has its value, as well. Considering facial expression, voice intonation, body language and so on we can all agree that technology only enhances this already live interaction/communication and it should be taken into account with its benefits.
It's interesting to consider that "student centered learning" has been brought up to people's attention and it's in fact being discussed among teachers and society for long now, and yet not that long if we consider the chronological aspect and time in world history. In other times, teachers weren't likely to adjust to the students pace. But the other way around. That's crucial to the updates and improvement continuum of educational system and education itself.
New Apps, tablets, cellphones and continuous computer technology improvement are being used more and more, as well as shared by teachers and students, to help one another. And we should keep doing that! The thought that you should never share something you know is not so common anymore. The mentality has changed and therefore people are closer than ever. Sharing and growing together!
