- How important is it for students to create digital content? Nowadays, we've come to terms with the fact that students learn better - and that's the main reason - when producing the content themselves. Especially when using digital tools such as iPads, their phones and laptops. Teachers' role has been presented for guidance.
- What are some of the benefits of having students create digital content? The benefits involve them building their own knowledge and having us teachers participate with them and not only left as observers. We build together and have the chance to share and exchange ideas, possibilities as well.
- What are some of the drawbacks on having students as content creators? They can sometimes provide content that's not appropriate or has not to do with the class purpose. That's why teachers' role is important in terms of guidance and reflection.
- How feasible is it to integrate content creation into your classroom? Students don't hesitate, nor struggle with the usage of digital tools. They also got how much fun it is to play with them and how interesting the task is when it's collaborative. I don't think the groups would have trouble engaging especially because they're so familiarized with digital tools, nowadays.

Excellent reflection, Mariana! I hadn't thought about the drawback of inappropriate content being posted by students! That can be concerning but I believe that good teachers like you find a way to bring students back to the right path and purpose of the class. Maybe, that could be highly avoided by the teachers' instructions and orientation for students at the beginning of the activity process. The students must know about the seriousness of the project and their responsibilities to it.
ReplyDeleteIndeed Lucas! As you said previously our role is to guide the process. Not build it up for them! Therefore, part of it is to avoid that students will not add anything appropriate to their tasks.
DeleteDear Mariana,
ReplyDeleteI believe you are very right about this. And it's upon us to guide them through what should be produced, regardless of the amount of freedom we grant them.
Plus, I think that some students might also feel insecure about producing things on their own, and here our assistance does come in handy again, don't you think?
I sure do Tico! Always good to remember and discuss our role, isn't it? Thanks for your answer!
DeleteHi Mariana, I completely agree with your reflection. In my opinion, the drawback you mentioned is right. So, we must be aware of what they are producing to assure the content is appropriate to the class.
ReplyDeleteAlways good to remember and keep that in mind, right Vinicius? Thanks for your reply!
